Medicare Part C (Medicare Advantage)

Medicare Part C, also known as Medicare Advantage, are additional coverage plans run by private insurance companies. Medicare Advantage combines coverage for hospital stays, doctor visits, outpatient care and preventive medicine into a single policy that’s easy to manage.

Additionally, some Medicare Advantage policies provide extra benefits for vision, hearing and dental, and most offer prescription drug coverage. With Medicare Advantage, you choose the options and coverage you need, and the policy holder takes care of all of the billing for the services.

How Medicare Advantage Works With Your Health Care Providers

Each Medicare Advantage plan is different. Some plans coordinate all of your health care through a primary care physician. Their job is to manage the care you need with the specialists and hospitals that deliver the care. In this type of plan, you may be required to select your doctors and the hospital you will use.

Other Medicare Advantage plans are more flexible and allow you to receive health care from any eligible provider. Medicare-eligible providers accept the terms, conditions and payment rates of the plan before providing coverage. Providers can decide whether or not to accept those terms, conditions and payment rates each time they furnish covered services.

There are benefits to each type of plan. Consult with a Bermel agent to determine the type of Medicare Advantage plan that’s best suited to your needs.
